I've been following several different gaming sites. Right now I'm playing AC2 and EQ2. Older games that are good games and keep me wanting to log in day to day.
Disclaimer: I do not include many of the Asian style games. As a personal preference I am not a fan of these games though I've tried a few. Archeage looks and sounds great but I still doubt I will kick down for that title if and when it is released. It's publisher is having some financial problems so we'll see.
EQ: The first MMORPG I ever played and I stuck with this game for many years. When my original guild disbanded I had alot of difficulty enjoying the game after that. F2P
SWTOR: Played this just after release. It is currently shelved. Great story but limited content and crafting was completely unnecessary. F2P
Rift: Played this just after release. It is currently shelved. A single player game slapped into a MMO box. Low amount of content, repetitive game-play. F2P
AoC: Played this just after release. It is currently shelved. Very decent PVP but repetitive. It got old really quick for me. F2P
TSW: Played this just after release. Great story and puzzles but not much content. A single player game in a MMO box. It is currently shelved. F2P
Fallen Earth: Played this just after release. It's decently set up but questing was very go here, kill 10 of these. Very repetitive game-play. It is shelved. F2P
Champions Online, Anarchy Online, DDO, DAoC, GW, EVE Online, LOTRO, Aion: All games I've tried and each have their merits but game-play was repetitive and I got bored quickly. Some games require subs and some are F2P.
Defiance: Not playing it, its supposed to be a MMOFPS.
FFARR: Very mixed reviews for FFARR (Final Fantasy) Not going to buy and play this title. $30 for the software.
Guild Wars 2: Lots of mixed reviews for this game. F2P and typically I do not much care for F2P games. I will not be playing this title.
COH/COV, Marvel Online, DCUO: All hero games and though I've tried CoH I'm finding that hero games are not my thing.
STO: Never tried this game but from what I was told. It is exactly like Champions Online (same game maker) except with ships. F2P right now.
Vanguard: I played this at release but it's player base was so low I lost interest. I actually thought it's game-play to be invigorating and difficult. (which I like) F2P right now.
Ultima Forever, Neverwinter, Firefall, Wildstar: Lots of mixed reviews for these games. I have not tried them nor intend to.
EQ2: Now that's it's free, I've been playing it on occasion. It's pretty fun but kinda easy now. Worth checking it out though since it's free I think.
AC2: Older game reskinned. Difficult and refreshing. No ! or ? standing above people and you do what you want to do. A grind-fest for sure but fun. It's $10 for the software and $12.50/month.
WAR: Is ending soon. Servers go down on December 18th.
EQ:Next >From the ground up, a game designed for the console gamer in mind. 1 ability tab with 8 abilities max and limited controls. Innovative game-play is promised but the graphics look pretty cheesy IMHO and I will definitely wait for real game-play reviews before putting money down on this title when it is released.
ESO: Still the leader of the pack I think. Graphics look wonderful, game-play looks exciting and fresh. Content is a concern but I am not a 40 hour a week gamer anyway. Crafting sounds interesting and necessary and enough customization to make characters different from one another. We'll see but I'm definitely going to play at release.
