Preface

Tamriel is a wonderful place, full of beauty, danger, adventure, great stories, riches, and more. There are nine provinces on Tamriel, Valenwood, home to the nimble Bosmer, the Summerset Isles, home to the cultured Altmer, Elsweyr, home to the fearsome and cat-like Khajiit, Hammerfell, home to the honorable Redguards, High Rock, home to the passionate and shrewd Bretons, Orsinium, home to the strong and simple Orcs, Skyrim, home to the boisterous and warrior Nords, Morrowind, home to the skillful Dunmer, and Argonia, home to the stealthy and lizard-like Argonians.

This guide will focus on the great forest in the southern part of the Tamrielic mainland, Valenwood. Valenwood is home to many species, such as the Centaurs, the Nymphs, the Spriggans, the Imga, the Bosmer and more. Valenwood is bordered by Elsweyr to the east, the Strid River and Cyrodiil to the north, and the Summerset Isles past a small stretch of the Abecean Sea to the west.

Valenwood itself is mainly forest, with occasional clearings showing blue rivers, mountains, or, if you are a little lucky, an Ayleid ruin. Valenwood is home to many cities, some include, the capital of Valenwood, Falinesti, the capital of the Aldmeri Dominion, Elden Root, and Arenthia, a Bosmer city in the north of Valenwood named after the first Bosmer king.

Chapter 1: Creatures of Valenwood

Centaurs: A semi-intelligent race found in the forests of Valenwood. Centaurs usually travel in nomadic tribes. All Centaurs have the lower body of a horse with the torso and head of a man. Centaurs are normally strong and skilled with a bow and spear. They speak Centurion and usually are skilled healers.

Nymphs: Beautiful creatures found in the forests of Valenwood, Nymphs have inherent magical abilities. This includes the ability to drain fatigue and health and they can only be harmed with weapons at least as good as silver. Nymphs have their own language and will sometimes carry daggers. They occasionally travel in pairs or tribes.

Spriggans: Also known as Nature's Guardians, Spriggans are tree spirits and defenders of nature. They normally take on the form of humanoid females and will attack travelers, despite being revered. Spriggans are of moderate intelligence and have their own language, which some scholars learn and use to communicate with Spriggans. Spriggans are found throughout Tamriel, usually in secluded groves/glades protecting them from trespassers. Spriggans will sometimes hide/blend in with plant life and attack trespassers unaware. In battle, Spriggans attack with their long fingers and teeth, both of which are sharp. They also have incredible regenerative abilities and can call woodland creatures to help them. The strongest can even magically summon black bears.

Imga: The Imga are also known as Great Apes and are a native race of Valenwood. Co-inhabiting the forests of Valenwood, the most notable feature of the Imga's is their reverence for the Altmer. The Imga believe that the Altmer have an ideal society and try to emulate them in many ways, they duel with swords, wear perfumed capes, and try to speak with great enunciation and have courtly manners. However, they have deep and gravelly voices so this is hard, if not impossible for them to achieve. Three more notable features about the Imga is their use of titles, like Baron or Earl, and their strong dislike of the races of man. They even cover their noses with their capes when around one. Finally, some of the more extreme Imga shave and powder themselves to look more like the Altmer.

Bosmer: Known as Wood Elves to most of Tamriel, Bosmer are known as the best archers in all of Tamriel. They are normally nimble, quick, and agile and are thought to have invented the bow. The Bosmer are followers of the Green Pact, one of the most notable parts of it is they can not use stuff that has harmed and/or was made out of vegetation found in Valenwood. They also revere Y'ffre, the God of Nature and Song. Bosmer are also known to be able to command simple-minded creatures and are great at hiding in the forest, some would say with magic.

Chapter2: Cities and Notable Places

Falinesti: This city is the capital of Valenwood and the seat of the Bosmer king. It is notable because it is a moving city, it moves from the south (in the summer) to the north (in the winter). However, it has recently stopped moving, alarming some Bosmer.

Arenthia: A city in northeastern Valenwood that is close to the borders of Cyrodiil and Elsweyr, Arenthia is perhaps best known for the vintage red wine it produces.

Elden Grove: The birthplace of the First Tree. The First Tree gave life to all of the forests in Tamriel. The location of this place is unknown.

Elden Root: The capital of the Aldmeri Dominion, Elden Root is located in eastern-central Valenwood and is a part of the Grahtwood region.

Gliverdale's remains: The once proud town of Gliverdale was destroyed by the Daedric Prince, Molag Bal on the 19th of Sun's Dawn in the First Era, year 2920. The remains of the town can be found in the easternmost part of Valenwood.

Greenheart: Greenheart is a port city in southern Valenwood that has grown popular, well known, and more open to outsiders through trade with other provinces, especially Elsweyr and Morrowind.

Haven: A major trade city on the southern border of Valenwood, near Elsweyr, Haven has grown rich through overland and oversea trade. It grew into a major power after it was given local independence by the Cyrodiilic Empire in the late First Era.

Silvenar: A city deep in the heart of Valenwood, Silvenar used to be a gleaming city, but in recent years has diminished in importance due to many Bosmer disappearing along the southern part of the city. It is home to and named after the Silvenar, a major Bosmeri political figure second only to the Camoran Kings.

Southpoint: The farthest major city in Valenwood, Southpoint is a costal city south of Elden Root and west of Haven. It is a rich city, trading with anyone they can.

Woodhearth: A costal city in the western part of Valenwood, Woodhearth is where many of the transports to and from the Summerset Isles take off and land. The Bosmer here are not as distrusting of magic as other ones.

Diss: A small town on the western coast of Valenwood that does not get a lot of trade, due to other major trade cities being further up and down the coast.

Chapter 3: Vampiric Bloodlines

Bonasmu: These vampires are some of the best hunters in all of Tamriel. It is because of one reason; they look exactly like a normal Bosmer except when seen by candlelight.

Keerilth: These Bosmeri vampires have the ability to transform into a mist. While in mist form they move silently and regenerate health, stamina/fatigue, and magica.

Yekef: Little is known about this Vampire Bloodline. The most notable thing about these vampires is their tendency to swallow men whole.

Telboth: This clan of Bosmeri vampires is notable for preying on children. After they prey on children, the Telboth will take the child's place in the family and eventually kill all of those in the family.

(NOTE: This book is an IC book by my character, Foriel Barkwing. As a lot of the cities, bloodlines, and some creatures did not have a lot of information on them. For this reason I felt like I had some reason to use an artistic license. Most of this information came from the Imperial Library and/or UESP.)

A good story, I enjoyed this.

One thing to note though is that the Camoran Usurper didn't start his invasion until the third era but you imply he started it in the second era under the Falenesti section.

Another is that it might be a good idea to include that the city Silvenar also is the palace and home of the Silvenar, a major Bosmeri political figure.

The Silvenar is a major figure in Bosmeri politics, probably second only to the Camoran kings. There isn't much lore on them at all but the city of Silvenar is named after their title since it's where the palace that the current Silvenar lives in is located.
