A Casual Gaming Guild

Welcome to Shogun! Currently an Ebonheart Pact Guild (Based on if we can only have one faction in the Guild.)

Formerly Opposing Force, we were created back in the days of Anarchy Online and have been an active MMO community since 1998. Heading into our 15th year as a gaming community we are currently focusing on The Elder Scrolls Online and all it has to offer in terms of questing, raids, dungeons, crafting, light pvp, etc.

We are a casual gaming guild. If you are looking for a hard core raiding guild, you are in the wrong place. You'll have to go elsewhere.

If you would like to know more about us, head on over to the About Us page and take a look! We look forward to meeting you!

Welcome to The Deadites! We are a casual gaming guild and will be focused on all The Elder Scrolls Online has to offer in terms of questing, possible raids, dungeons, crafting ect. If you are looking for a hard core raiding guild, you are in the wrong spot. You'll have to go elsewhere.

The Deadites started back in 1998 in Asheron's Call, at which time, it was called K'han. From there the guild moved to Anarchy Online at release where we were known as Opposing Force, or OPFOR, from launch until we left the game was approximately four years. The guild flourished. We were one of the largest, most well known guilds in the game and actually affected in game story line changes and had a monument added to the City of Tir, the home of the Clans, for work and effort we, as a guild, did in game. We had roughly over 500 unique members at that time.

From there the guild moved to Star Wars Galaxies where it also flourished for a time, until the game was tweeked to point where no one liked it. After that, went to WOW for a short time and flourished for a bit until members started moving their own ways. The guild then went dormant for a time and started back up again in Rift were we did really well.

Our goal is not to be the biggest, it never has. It is to be the most well known and respected guild on whatever server we choose come launch. It takes dedication by the Guild Officers and it's members as well to get to this point. Our recruitment process is selective, but that is to only ensure a strong fit in the guild with it's members. We do use Vent/Mumble for voice chat, usually only when we are in a raid or dungeon however. We are not big into using it if we are just out and about, because the Guild Leadership feels it takes away from Guild Chat in game and besides, not everyone likes to be on voice chat.

So, what are The Deadites really all about? Read below....in the Guild Charter.

The Deadites is a community of mature gamers, from all around the world, looking to have fun and interact with other members in a casual and relaxed atmosphere. We strongly believe that real life is the most important thing. We know things will happen, and no guild or game should expect you to suffer for taking care of whatever matters most in your own life.

We are about the journey and not the destination. Our community provides our members a place to escape from real life. A place to relax and enjoy gaming in a friendly and fun environment. We are a helpful and motivated group of gamers, looking to enjoy ourselves without drama. This laid back approach may not be for everyone, but it is vital that all our members understand and abide by this belief.

As a member of The Deadites you are expected to abide by our Code of Conduct and to follow the Chain of Command to resolve all disputes and issues.

Our Guild is only as strong as its members. The Deadites leadership will look to each and every member as a vital contributor to ensuring our standards are upheld, both in game and on the forums. Members should be aware that their conduct is a reflection of the guild as a whole. No one person is better then any other, nor is he/she above the Guild as a whole. We expect mature people to act in a mature manner. We like to have fun. We poke fun at, and play jokes on, each other, however we do it at all times with respect.

As with any organization, there will be times that people don't see eye to eye. Any issues that arise are to be resolved in a respectful and mature manner. Every member is to follow the rules set forth in our Code of Conduct and follow the process for issue resolution.

No matter what happens remember to "Praise in Public, Dispute in Private." If you can't resolve it, seek assistance from the Guild leadership.

The Deadites Charter is our philosophy and it should be something you believe in. If this is not what you are looking for in a guild, feel free to look elsewhere.

If at any time you no longer agree with our philosophy, feel free to leave any time you like.

In closing we need to make this clear, we are about FUN, period. You will get as much out of The Deadites in. If your goal is to have a cool guild name, then that is all you will get. If your goal is to meet new people, play some games, participate in discussions, laugh a little, and most importantly enjoy yourself.....then you will find a a great home here with The Deadites and it's members.

We sincerely hope you decide to choose our Guild over any other. We look forward to meeting you! Until then, enjoy gaming.

If you are interested in The Deadites and what we might have to offer you, please feel free to head over to the Recruitment section of the site and fill out an application. We like all types of players as long as you are mature and willing to put in a little work on the side to help the guild be successful. We love couples who are gamers, we have quite a few of those already. If you think your a good fit feel free to apply! We will get back to you in a timely manner (usually within 24 hours...) and talk to you from there. We look forward to hearing from you!

Remember, The Deadites is a Dictatorship following the advise of Senior Members. However, below is some general Guild information you should familiarize yourself with along with the Code of Conduct (CoC) for the Guild, which you will be held accountable for should any issues arise.

In order to maintain the friendly and fun atmosphere in The Deadites, we have developed a set of core rules which all members are asked to read and agree to. Guild Leadership will use the Code of Conduct (CoC) to review all issues and will attempt to apply it and interpret it as fairly and evenly as possible should issues with ANY guild member arise.

If you feel someone has violated the CoC or if you have a question about it, please reach out to the The Deadites Officer Core.

Guild Leadership is defined as those individuals that have volunteered their time to help maintain a fun and friendly atmosphere within the Guild and help Shogun move forward. The leadership structure is as follows:

Guild Founder(s) - Handle the behind the scenes functionality and paying of the bills of the guild. This includes the forums, site, Mumble servers, and other administrative things in and out of game. Also head up the Guild in game as the GM. He/She is also responsible for the final word on the daily operation of the Guild. The buck stops here so to speak.

Guild Administrator(s) - Guide the daily operation and direction of the guild. Responsible to the GM only. Make daily decisions regarding Guild activities, events and more along with ensuring the Guild Charter and Code of Conduct are maintained and all disputes are handled fairly and quickly.

Guild Officers - Responsible for the structured operation of the Guild. Assist Guild Administrators as needed to ensure the Guild rules are maintained through out the game to include Mumble, forums, and in game guild chat.

Chapter Veteran(s) - Provide assistance to guild members for invites, issue resolution and the maintaining of the Guild CoC and Charter.

Guild Moderators - Maintain the CoC as it pertains to posts on the forums. These individuals will make decisions on any content that has been posted on the The Deadites website or forums.

The The Deadites Code of Conduct

1. Respect the decisions made by Guild leadership. They will do their best to be impartial in protecting and upholding the original concept of the Guild, keeping fun at the forefront, and enforcing these rules established to protect and uphold the integrity of the Guild community. If you have a problem, please follow the Chain of Command and keep disputes private. Public questions are fine. Publicly calling out guild members or leadership for any reason is a CoC violation. Remember attack the point, not the person.

2. While participating on the The Deadites Forums and Mumble Server, you must respect the rights of others to participate in the community. You may not harass (sexually or otherwise), defraud, threaten or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other members. Displaying disrespect toward any guild member will not be tolerated, and is grounds for immediate expulsion from the Guild.

3. Respect is first and foremost. Respect all others at all times, whether or not you think they deserve it. Remember that we come from all walks of life and do not necessarily have the same ideologies or opinions. Keep your arguments civil, and never personally attack anyone. You are a reflection of your Guild anywhere you go. Do not get into flame wars on any forum. Repeated derogatory statements or abusive treatment of others is grounds for expulsion from the Guild. Please, feel free to report offensive content to the proper Guild leaders so that it may be dealt with.

4. You may not use sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, overly abusive, defamatory, unnecessarily obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive language. This is to include, user names, signatures and or any links in your posts or profile.

Yes we are all adults that can handle language, but just as in the real world there is a time, a place and a purpose for it. Using obscene language for humor is much different then attacking someone with it.

5. You may not discuss, nor post or link to, material about controversial topics such as (but not limited to) politics, religion, racism, sexism, or sexual orientation. We are a gaming Guild and we wish to keep things light-hearted and fun. Even simple, off-hand comments can cause offense or discomfort, so please be careful, and think about what you are saying.

6. Creating new threads with the same topic as a thread which has previously been closed by the Forum Moderators is not allowed. Follow the Chain of Command to resolve disputes about moderating decisions. Remember, if you follow the Code of Conduct your posts should never be moderated. If you do not get a satisfactory response then please move down the list.

Speak with the Moderator that handled the post/thread
Speak with a Guild Officer
Speak with an Administrator

Understand the first amendment DOES NOT apply here. The Deadites reserves the right to edit or delete any posts deemed in violation of the CoC.

7. You may not impersonate any person or entity or otherwise misrepresent yourself, your age or your affiliation with any person or entity such as, gaming companies or other businesses. This includes or lying on your application, inappropriate use of avatars, and using the The Deadites Guild name and/or logo without the permission of the Founder or Administrators.

8. English is the primary language of The Deadites. This is not to say that other languages are inferior but that the overwhelming majority of our members speak English. All communications in public areas such as Mumble, in game chat, and on the forums should be in English so that the public understands what is going on. It is frustrating to see discussions in any form of communication that others can't participate in due to lack of understanding and has a potential to cause drama, which we do not tolerate.

9. You may not violate any local, state, national or international law or post any content that would encourage or provide instructions for a criminal offense. This includes hacks, emulators, and/or services that violate copyrighted material. Use your common sense.

10. You may not send or make available any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, solicitations, promotional materials, "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or any other form of solicitation without the permission of the Administrators. This includes solicitation in-game as well as in the real world, including but not limited to transactions of both real money and in-game currency.

11. Do not post anything that would obligate or request the membership to participate in events such as: protests, boycotts, petitions, demonstrations, or charitable donations without the approval of the Administrators. We are a gaming Guild, not a social rallying point to right the wrongs of the world. There are plenty of social networks and blogs available for these types of requests.

12. You may not distribute, post, publish, upload, disseminate or discuss defamatory, infringing, obscene, sexual, racist or any unlawful materials like child pornography or illegal drugs including images, audio, video, links, or text.

13. Recruiting for another guild from within The Deadites is strictly prohibited. Any account found to have actively recruited for another guild will be banned immediately. We do not dual guild recruit and certainly do not expect others to do it to us.

With that said, we strongly suggest gamers should ALWAYS pick a guild that is right for them. Take the time to research and find out what your looking for and what fits YOU the best. We will not think less of anyone who chooses to leave The Deadites for any reason or another guild if they feel it will help them to better enjoy the game. Its all about the FUN.

14. You should not use the The Deadites Mumble Server while inebriated (drunk...). You are free to enjoy the service and a drink while gaming. But it is recommended that you avoid using Mumble when you are drunk. Social skills tend to relax to the point that people say the dumbest things while intoxicated. CoC violations while drunk or under the influence is not a defense. As adults you are responsible for your actions.

15. As a Guild Member you will uphold any user agreements, EULA or CoC for any games that you may play. The Deadites will not be responsible for policing your actions in games regarding game exploits which include cheating, use of third party programs, purchasing items or in game gold for real money, using a power leveling service and any other actions which might get your account suspended or banned. All (potential or perceived) exploits should immediately be reported to the appropriate Game Developers and/or Guild Leadership of the game involved. Any member banned from a game for violating in game rules will, as a result, be removed from the Guild. Willfully exploiting a game will not be tolerated! A good rule of thumb is: First time is discovery, second time is verification, third time it's exploiting. Willful exploiters will be expelled from the Guild without question.

16. Protect your account and the guild. Change your passwords frequently and do not share your account information with anyone. You are responsible for your accounts. You may not register for more than one The Deadites forum account, use or attempt to use anther's account without authorization, or create a false identity on the The Deadites web site and/or forums.

17. The The Deadites Mumble Server is a private GUILD ONLY service, paid for by donations of the members of the Guild. Under no circumstances is any member permitted to share the server log in information with anyone outside of the Guild. You are not to post the information anywhere including Guild Chat. If a member needs the information direct them to the sticky on the main forum page. Anyone found to have shared or improperly posted this information will be removed from the Guild immediately. This helps us to maintain a strong community environment for you.

18. It is the responsibility of all the members to maintain an active forum account. To ensure your account remains active it is your responsibility to log your account into the website at least once every 30 days. You are not required to post, only log in. The hope is that you will read some of the forums and keep up with current events within the Guild, after all, it is YOUR Guild. If real life makes this process impossible and you are turned inactive ask a moderator through a PM to re-activate your account. You need only post a quick request and the Admin team will get you reactivated as soon as humanly possible. To avoid being removed in game, ensure you maintain an active forum account at all times.

19. Conflict Resolution. Follow your Chain of Command at all times and allow them to handle any issues which may arise.

Once you have read through the Code of Conduct and agree to it. Please post a quick note here with agreement, questions, comments or concerns. This way, we know you have read it and agree to it. Failure to do so will prevent you from being given access to certain Guild Features in game, on the site and also on the forums.

If you feel someone has violated the CoC or if you have a question about it, please reach out to the The Deadites Officer Core.
