So I was having a think....

Could there be something in the game to prevent Bosmer from breaking the Green Pact i.e. a poisonous infliction or perhaps a special hidden quest to seek repentance for breaking the oath. Or would it just be a character choice to keep to it or not?

Wondering what peoples thoughts on this may be?

maybe the green pact should be introduced to all of us: It´s a pact between the Bosmer and the entity fo Y´ffre, god of the Valenwood forests. It prohibits Bosmer from using any kind of wood from the forest, cutting a tree and makes them strict carnivore and feasting from their fallen enemies. here the link; http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Green_Pact

Yeah, that would really give a great restriction to the Bosmer race, I think. But If some Bosmer individuals, maybe far even away from Valenwood and Y´ffre, cut wood and eat a heartful salad this won´t have any consequences on the Bosmer kind itself ;)

Who controls the Septim crown?
Who keeps the Allesian Heresy down?
We do, we do

Who knocked Yokuda off the maps?
Who keeps the Dwemer under wraps?
We do, we do

well for one since the latest AD Q and A we know they aint taking the Bosmer lore seriously anyway. the PR talk basically meant "nope, no cannibalsm for you, also fuck lore"
so i doubt well be forced into it.
wether or not you obey the green pact or not is realy up to your character. Its an RP descision among other things.
as it was in Skyrim for example. you could pick flowers as a Bosmer. it was rather out of character of course...

but considering how much they toned down the cannibalism (from "the enemies must bee consumed 3 days after the battle" to "they only do it in tight knit groups and you wont see any of that") so yeah...

I don't think we'll be forced to uphold anything, but, being a roleplayer, when I'm roleplaying my Bosmer, she will be very dedicated to upholding the Green Pact. IT was one of the things that first attracted me to the Bosmer as a race, so I definitely intend to play with it :P

That's one of the nice things about roleplay. You're not completely stuck on game mechanics, you can use things that exist in lore, even if they choose not to implement it into the game directly.

if you are a bosmer roleplayer you should keep in mind that it is the law of Y'ffre that you have to devour your fallen foes at least three days after the battle.

that might be a tough one eh?

Oh I know :) But if we counted every kill we do in game as being IC, every one of our characters would pretty much be sociopathic mass murderers :D

With a bit of effort, I'm sure it can work :)

If they import items its fine, but i am interested in how the foraging/alchemy side will work, i.e. picking plants up from the soil etc. Lore wise it means they would not be able to stay in one form like Y'ffre's deal correct?

Well this is what I was thinking because it may be that you pick up some blessing like "Y'ffre's blessing" which gives you bonus elemental effects or something and cures diseases much like the blessings you could pick up in TES: Skyrim, and you lose it by breaking the Green Pact? Would be cool if they had something small like that just to inkeep with the lore

That would be cool, like a race trait.
