Frost covered the open mountain pass, a white carpet, lethally slippy to any oblivious walker. Sheer, smooth cliffs of blue ice rose from the ground, groaning and shifting like great giants. Skyrim, Whiterun Hold, is where the death began, where it all started, in this very pass. Written in first person, I hope this entertains...
I walked along the path, my faithful companion trotting at my side. All was silent apart from the occasionally groaning that echoed from the glaciers, bouncing of the walls before slowly dieing down to only a whisper. I forced myself to place another foot in front of myself, and another, and another. I hated this place, there was something wrong about it, it didn't feel right, but I had to keep going, I had to. Wolf padded alongside me, his claws skidding across the frozen ground and his thick black fur slowly moving as he walked. I stared up at the top of the icy cliffs, at the stone boulders perched precariously at the very edges, tens of them. The sun shone down through the thick mist, and I could only see ten meters in front of me.. I shivered and looked back down, hugging myself as I walked to keep warm. Was the path narrowing? I couldn't tell, but I was sure it was. I looked up quickly as a groaning was heard ahead of me, ominous, and louder than usual. Suddenly a rabbit ran from a hole in the ice ahead of me, panicked by Wolf. I cried out for Wolf to stay by me, but to no use, he ran on ahead. Scared I shouted at him to come back, but he had the scent of his prey, he ran ahead, further and further. He was ten meters away from me, there was nothing I could do now, I had to let him catch it. A ear splitting scream filled the air and Wolf stopped, I could see crimson blood pooling beneath his feet as he eat the rabbit, slowly. I could feel relief washing over me, until I heard a groaning, but not of ice. It all happened at once, Wolf looked up at me just staring, as if he knew what was happening, and I stared confused at him. The boulders tipped over the edge, from both sides, twenty of them, over Wolf. He continued to stare at me, he was clever, he knew that he was dead, and he just stared at me as I ran forwards screaming. Time slowed down for me, and it started to snow.
I knelt on the ground, panting and weeping, staring at the pile of boulders ahead of me. It had been a minute since it had happened, since he died. No, he was still alive, he had to be. I struggled to my feet, stumbling over to the rocks and started pulling at them desperately. They wouldn't come. Pain ricocheted through my body and briefly I forgot who I was, but it stopped and remembered who I was, and who I had to find under the boulders. I continued, weeping, dragging at the rocks until my hands were bloody and raw. Another spasm of pain came and I fell to the floor, muscles tense. Who was I? It stopped and I got up, persistent. I could remember who I was... But what was my name? It didn't matter, all that mattered was Wolf, I had to get him out. An intense pain went through me but this time I stood strong, kicking and pulling at the rocks as the pain continued. And suddenly it happened, I screamed in pain and fury, and I dropped to my knees, I could feel a change coming over me, for the last time it happened. Fur sprouted from my skin, my fingernails grew and thickened into claws and my face grew into a snout. after a minute it was a complete, and I had lost who I was before. Miasmador was gone, and I could not remember who I had been, who my friends had been, I couldn't even remember Wolf. As I always feared, no, as I always knew I would, I had gone feral.
