@Epicface's Character:

First name - Vallin.

Surname - Uvayn.

Alignment - Chaotic Neutral.

Title - None.

Sex - Male.

Race - Dunmer.

Age - 24.

Occupation - Freelance mercenary or explorer.

Faction - None, member of the House of Redoran.

Appearance - Vallin stands tall for his kind, nearly reaching the height of an average male Altmer, and is certainly more muscular than one. He somehow bears both a powerful build, but also a lean and athletic body, both used to swinging a sword, wearing armor, dodging attacks, and climbing objects, plus running long distances, for the life of a travelling mercenary isn’t one of slowness. Like the others of his kind, his eyes are a burning red, often unnerving those of other races if stared into for too long. He wears no special adornments at all, for resources, he reasons, are better spent for other things. His skin is as dark as the ebony Morrowind is famous for, as is his usually long and always untidy hair, often ruffled from being stuffed under a helmet for so long. He has no facial hair, but that is essentially the only aesthetic detail he often takes care of.

Equipment - Vallin typically wears the Redoran favored Gah-Julan Bonemold armor, it providing decent protection but not weighing him down like heavier armors would. The fairly long cowl protects normal exposed flesh from being hit by the ash, particularly from ash storms. He carries a steel sword which he uses for the majority of the time, but when faced against undead and other creatures of the sort, he uses a silver sword also sheathed on his back. They are both bastard swords, meaning they can be wielded in either one or two hands, but he generally prefers using two hands for some added power to each strike when he is sure of his skills, unless he is shooting Destruction magic out of his other hand, or is using a shield. Speaking of shields, he also carries a bonemold shield, in case a fight gets more challenging, dangerous, or archers/mages come into the mix. He also always has goggles on hand, in case a sudden ash storm strikes and he happens to not have his helmet with him.
(Note: If the silver bastard sword is a bit much then I can just say he won’t have it on him in the RP.)

Personality - Vallin… isn’t the kindest to most people. Aside from Dunmer that were born and raised in Morrowind, he is often very gruff to most. He usually doesn’t waste his breath speaking to others, but when he does and it’s towards strangers, the words aren’t usually welcoming or kind in any definition of the word. Why be nice to people who would do nothing for you, who would likely never help you in any sort of way? With people that he doesn’t know of or simply doesn’t think too highly of (and those two groups overlap quite often), he is rather short tempered, but he is usually more calm when among those that he trusts, but the number of those are few. In the field when among other soldiers, he naturally fills the role of a commander, shouting out orders as he himself charges into the fray, maintaining a sort of aura of power and respect. Deep inside, he is a rather dutiful person, for even though his job mostly consist mercenary work, his employer is his captain, of sorts. He isn’t exactly evil, or at least he doesn’t view himself to be, he simply does what he has to to stay alive and get money to spend on some of the few remaining luxuries in life. He doesn’t care for theories, master plans telling people how their lives are lived, and he couldn’t care less about rumors and the like. He approaches nearly every problem with a practical solution, and he goes about it as logically as he can, instead of relying on luck or some other not-fully-reliable source. In a way, he is a pragmatist. If someone is going to die, he usually won’t go out of his way to try some insane plan that would likely never work and would cost him or others their lives. Instead, he would shove the event away in his mind for a while, then do what has to be done. If some have to die, then so be it. If the some is him, then that’s where he has a problem.

Social Background/Backstory - "You must be swift as a coursing river, with all the force of a great typhoon, with all the strength of a raging fire, mysterious as the dark side of the moons." Vallin Uvayn was born the son of Councilor Vanik Uvayn of House Redoran and Demivah Uvayn and is the youngest of their three children. The eldest, Erebain, his brother, has always been his fathers’ favorite and the pride of the family, being essentially the opposite of Vallin. This is probably because he is far more traditional than Vallin, putting great stock into his honor, his House, and his family, always upholding the standard of them whenever he can or must. The middle child, Nephelle, has always been the bridge between Vallin and the rest of his family. She has always tried her best to not allow the family to turn against each other (or, more likely, against Vallin), probably because she is a priestess and she sees the good in Vallin, as all clans need a loose cannon of some sort. As you could tell by now, Vallin Uvayn is essentially the black sheep of the family, primarily because he is very chaotic by nature. He doesn’t take orders well, and even the best fighter cannot be allowed in the military for long if they can’t do as they are told, and added onto that he has always been hot-headed and a bit too bold for the military, so he was soon discharged, which only brought more disappointment to him with his family, but it wasn’t the event that made him a true black sheep. Not yet. Sick and tired of being bossed around all the time and being forced to act well and proper to suit his family, he dedicated himself to training his combatative skills. After he patched them up, figured out good general tactics to use in combat against others. He generally stayed in less morally pure areas, like taverns, and soon decided mercenary work would suit him quite well. From that point on, particularly after a certain event, he hardly ever socializes with his family in any way, shape, or form, the only exception being the occasional letter to his sister, his friends now being only acquaintances he met on his journeys, or other partners in crime.

Best Memory - Vallin would keep a closed mouth if he was asked what his best memory would be, for happy memories aren’t exactly common to anyone, let alone him. He would probably say any good contract to fill out, as long as it has a decent battle in it, is a good enough memory for him any day of the week.

Worst Memory - “Every journey into the past is complicated by delusions, false memories, and false namings of real events.” Vallin would say his worst memory is not exactly one, pinpointed occasion, but the entire mess of him and his relations with his family. Being rejected by your kin is more painful than being stabbed in the heart by a blade.

Skills - Vallin is, first and foremost, fairly skilled with the sword. It has always been his go-to choice of weapon, and he has trained in it since his training of being a warrior had begun. He is no master, and he always has places where he must perfect his swordsmanship and form in battle. Among this, he trains himself on how to position himself better to receive blows from different weapons, and in dodging attacks altogether. As you can see, he is a warrior through and through, but he also works a bit on his Destruction skills, mostly because a sword sometimes doesn’t always do the trick, or if he needs an ace in the hole he can shoot a well-aimed fireball. It simply opens up a new realm of tactics, but unfortunately training in the art of magic is quite different from what he is used to, but that is an obstacle is must overcome eventually. He is a somewhat skilled smith, but that was simply an interest that faded away like ash in the breeze. In combat, he feels at home, and perhaps that is the reason that others often look to him for orders for what to do in fights. He sometimes integrates ‘cheap’ tricks, like throwing sand, ash, or dirt at the enemy’s eyes, and sees nearly every object as a possible weapon for him or his foes to exploit.

Challenges for the Character - Learning and, perhaps even more so, accepting other cultures is a ready challenge for Vallin, as well as dealing with outsiders in general. Restraining himself from doing hasty things due to his short temper is a common challenge for him as well, and understanding the complexity of magic is also a beast that rears its ugly head quite often.

Birthsign - The Lord.

Religious Views - Vallin primarily worships the living Tribunal. Alamexia, Vivec, and Sotha Sil. The living gods of Morrowind are his primary religious belief, though he, like all dunmer, still respect the old Tribunal otherwise known as the Daedric Princes Boethiah, Mephala, and Azura who shaped his people.

Politics Views - Like most mercenaries and adventurers, politics concern him little other than who employs him and who is the target. In the end he supports the way the Dunmer Houses and their politics work because, in the end, they are the ones who keep him employed. The only sour point for many in his shoes would be slavery, but he isn't a slave nor will he ever be so he hardly gives the issue a thought. There are more important things to be doing in the meantime, like sharpening his sword or working on his combat style.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@MaxxRocker’s Character:

First name - Lagu.

Surname - Mil’Lueten.

Alignment - Chaotic Neutral.

Title - Riddle Spinner or The Snake

Sex - Male.

Race - Breton.

Age - 24, date of birth: Evening Star 2E 557.

Occupation - Bard “Information Expert”. Being born an orphan can lead many lives to many things and in the case of Lagu it lead him to learn a skill set that would ensure his well being for years to come. He had a good voice and a way with words so naturally it suited him and when he discovered his like of music little time was wasted before he started to place himself into his current job. He always had an affinity for other darker things as well and he used this skills and likes to become a man known to get valuable and often sensitive information. The thrill and excitement of all of it in both aspects of his job and his life give him a pleasure that is easy to see in his eyes.

Faction - “You never have to choose a side. It’s rewarding, but oh the path is hard.” None though he often finds himself in the employment of one of the Dunmer Great Houses.

Appearance - General- Lagu changes his appearance on a regular basis, but the fact remains that there is also something very fetching and attractive about him no matter what he wears or the way he styles himself and most of all his speech and the way he carries himself.

Physical - Lagu is a slim athletic breton defined by lean muscle and obviously in rather peak condition. He carries himself with an undeniable confidence and yet it is always inviting as are his looks. He appears taller than the average Breton and while it is true his simple nature makes it seem all the more noticeable or even more exaggerated. There is still a ruggedness and a roguish appearance that overlaps it, but perhaps that is why inspite of himself what keeps him approachable.

The first thing many notice about him is the unique purple color of his eyes some would say like Amethyst, but the color is deeper and more rich than that and they always garner attention. His hair is brown and most often kept long though on occasion it has been cut short for one reason or the other, but always only when it had to be. The astute would notice his hair is one thing he uses as a shield much like his clothing a buffer to hide things from the peering eyes of the world to keep himself or his truths hidden. He tends to his facial hair sometimes shaving it completely and other times keeping a well groomed short beard. There is an obvious signs of his meticulous and perhaps even minorly obsessive nature the attention to detail and the need for control and a sense of consistency or formality even in his chaotic life.

Lagu bears a few tattoos though they are obviously of Dunmeri style and not of Breton design. The tattoos placed around wrist and forearm they are an ashen black beautifully etched to look like chains. His only other tattoo is a concealed mark on his neck of what looks to be a black hand in a typical Dunmer artistic interpretation. He has a few scars some on his back that look like they are from a lash and some that look like they are from arrows or knives on his face do stand out though in the end they are little of what is interesting about this man and if anything they add to his appearance a sense of experience.

Most alarming perhaps is the fact that a moment this charming and handsome man can turn dark or serious and become a mastermind of plots and whispers trading secrets in the dark. This man many would say resembles a snake or chameleon conveniently changing his shape his voice his clothing and all other manner of things as so it suits him as so it will ensure his survival and aid his desires.

Armor and Weapons - “Every job has certain tools of the trade even if they are things you can’t see.” Lagu is not necessarily known for being straight forward especially in the capacity of any situation that would lend itself to a fight. He prefers tools of stealth and those that rely on sleight of hand though. He has found daggers to be the most suited for his preferences and styles when it comes to a weapon. They are light, thin, and agile all which gives itself well to one who does not wish to be noticed. Plus if all else comes down to a straight fight knives do slip easy between the spots in armor often forgotten.

Armor has never truly suited Lagu though he surely wouldn’t want to find himself impaled on the end of someone’s sword just because he wanted to be free. Usually Lagu likes to keep up appearances so when he wears armor it is usually minimal and hidden beneath clothing. The set he has grown most accustom to is one of light flexible leather hand made for someone about his build. He had it modified after he procured it and even added some interesting bits of protection throughout his favorite set of clothing such as extra sewn on bits of leather to the inside to give extra protection over vital spots such as his heart.

He has one dagger of note it is beautifully crafted dunmeri dagger with daedric script on it and occasionally it can be caught giving off a slight glow. The knife is very important to Lagu and he is almost always carrying it like some kind of talisman. The most interesting feature about the dagger is that the handle is hollow not only to help with balancing and weight of the dagger, but in fact it can be accessed to hide small things such as jewels, poison, or even notes.

Clothing - He has a wardrobe of many different attires in his home though his favorite set of clothing is his traveling gear. It is a hand stitched brown get up that gives him the look of a rugged traveler. There are patches and pieces of different colors and makes and though it blends well it is obvious that the clothing is well traveled and that in fact it probably grew with Lagu. He always carries spare clothes often of a more formal or elegant nature, but when he can he wears this outfit so near and dear to him. It is also special in it’s modifications of bits of leather that have been sewn to it’s inside over vital areas to give him extra protection. Despite it’s wear and tear and the obvious countless repairs done to it everything has been done with enough talent that it is still pleasing to the eyes in it’s own unique way. No matter what he wears he always wears a pair of black leather boots that go up to his shin the boots are kept in perfect condition and daily Lagu can be caught caring after them and oddly they never truly seem to take any real damage beyond getting dirty no matter what they go through.

Other Belongings - Among the most important of Lagu’s belongings are his trade tools while not weapons of a normal sort they are none the less easily used to give him the advantage and defeat many opponents in fact often times without drawing blood. His lute is carved from a deep rosewood that looks aged and gleams in the light. It’s trimmings and accents are ebony wood. He carries this lute with him almost all the time unless it is absolutely necessary to leave it behind. He has outfitted his lute with two special compartments to hide things. One is an access panel cleverly concealed underneath adornments on the belly of the lute that allows him to hide things inside the lute’s center. The other compartment is at the very top of the neck and hides a dagger in it’s back. All the additions were made entirely to support the lute being functional and elegant as an instrument almost integrated as secondary things rather than the focus. He also has a kit of thieving tools and while frequently he must replace one piece or another he always makes sure he is never without such things as lock picks, grappling hooks, ropes, and other assorted items. He usually carries a mortar and pestle and at least a minute amount of alchemical supplies with him at all times though usually he prefers to gather things on the go and if need be purchase them. Lastly he carries with him ink and feathers for writing and two personal ledgers one is simply of songs and a log and is a bound brown leather journal. The other is almost identical except an inscription that reads “If only for memories”and hardly is he ever seen opening this journal and never will he let others access it.

Personality - “Some day you will grow up and learn to lie just like me.”
It is hard to guess the intentions or feelings of a man who is constantly changing and molding to those he is surrounded by. You could say people like this lack any individual personality or you could say that they have learned that it is not their personality people want to see it is the one they are looking for and it is best to make that appear for them if you want the best of a situation. In the end though it is apparent that Lagu is a man who believes in doing what is necessary and what is good for himself. He wants to survive and to live in some kind of comfortable state doing what it is he loves to do and what he is good at. Beyond that he is fine with the rest being subject to change. If you dig deep however you find a man who is constantly possessed by thought and by plans in the making. He is constantly striving for something bigger something better either from ambition, inadequacy or both. In this you find a man who reads who wishes to always have the edge. You see a man who despite his appearances and his charm is cold and even ruthless. However who he is at his heart and his identity is one that only someone truly close to him could ever know.

Social Background/Backstory - “Be polite, be efficient, and have a plan to beat everyone you meet.”
Life is not always kind to those who are brought into it and often those who it is least kind to become the worst of any race. Lagu was brought into an unforgiving world with little to care about and in the end he reacted much as many would which was to care little for the world and for the people who had scorned him. As a child he defined himself by petty crimes and running a gang with other orphans who were looking for some kind of life better than the one they had through the means they knew best. Eventually they drew too much attention and as the hammer came down on all of them one by one they fled and the friendship the union that had begun to repair some of what plagued Lagu was cracked and lost to him.

For a time he ran and tried to survive on his own using the tools he best knew, but they were not enough and as he reached the end of his ropes fate struck him with a lucky break. He met a dunmer who would not give his name, but took him under his wing and began to teach him many things particularly the art of music and the use of reading and writing. Lagu was for the first time in a long time feeling companionship and an admiration or kinship for someone other than himself. As time went on the teachings grew more serious and more dark leading towards the art of poisons the knowledge of anatomy and the use of words….and before too long the training began to become physical. It was a sudden turn, but Lagu had begun to trust his mentor and he did what was asked of him even if it meant enduring torture and pain. In the end even if it all crumbled maybe he would value the knowledge and skills given he kept saying in a place in his mind. Eventually the day came and his mentor revealed something to him and with that Lagu was set loose in the world yet again it had been five years of training and he was given one task. With a sure mind he set about it and upon success he was rewarded by his mentor. A year passed and he followed the path laid out for him traveling waiting for letters for his next job and one day the letters stopped coming.

He waited for a time getting by on his artistic skills and other traits until he received a letter finally after months of silence he grew excited. He read the letter and quickly set about his task, but this time he found nothing, but sorrow and shock as he was ambushed and arrested for a list of crimes. In the background stood the only face he had trusted the dunmer who taught him everything. He stood there in awe and he called to him, but the dunmer turned and the men who prepared to take Lagu away gave him money and sent him on his way. Betrayal was a bitter taste and one that Lagu could not handle. Three years he served in a dank sad prison dealing with abuse and hard labor, but as long ago he had thought the training would serve him well and it did for he survived. Deep inside him rage and resentment grew, and as it reached a critical state opportunity struck. The warden needed help with a few problems and Lagu’s skill set fit perfectly so he took the job for the offer of his freedom. He had little trouble with what the warden had set out for him to do.

Even in the midst of his freedom he was lost and broken down life had given him nothing except that which he took and with desperation he went back to the only place he really knew. There he found tools and old belongings of his all left there as if the place had not been touched in all the time he was away. He walked slowly then to his bed and as he lay down he felt a piece of parchment under his back. He moved and grabbed the parchment and as he began to read the words he couldn’t help give an honest emotional reaction despite all his instincts.

They broke me down….

Lagu set out after that with no real objective in mind, but all the belongings and things he needed in his possession everything that had ever mattered to him was his again. His troubles would most likely never end, but he would take everything he had to and stay one step ahead of whatever curses came his way or at least thats what he kept telling himself.

“No one will ever know the things you hide inside or the secrets you bury except those that were there.”

Best Memory - “What greater thing is there for two souls than to feel that they are joined - to strengthen each other - to be at one with each other in silent unspeakable memories.”
His best memory the one that he always answers such questions with is that of a particularly lucrative and fancy ball that lasted for days. He drank he had many wonderful women dance with him in the night. He drank and ate and all the while he got paid to play music it was a wonderful event. The best being when he left sore and filled with joy he had a few extra things with him that he was happy to relieve the host of and quite well rewarded for doing so.

Worst Memory - 'Isn't it funny how one little encounter can cleave off little pieces of your past, deform your memories and persona until you rethink your whole identity - and as you realise how foolish it all is - your laughter reverberates off the walls of your own emptiness?"
His worst memory as far as many know was a stint he did in a prison doing hard labor.

Skills - “I can defeat most with words and if it comes to drawing blood I wait till they don’t see me coming.”
Speech/Charisma/Art, Athletics, Acrobatics, Hand to Hand/Martial Arts (Defensive/Evasive), Alchemy, Pick Locks/Pockets, and Illusion are the areas in which Lagu has focused most his time and efforts on though he has occasionally used minor destruction, alteration, and restoration spells.

Challenges for the Character - “Someday I will lose the war, but until then I’ll keep dreaming of winning.”
A man without friends and family is a lonesome creature one many should be wary of including himself. Lagu is distrusting and paranoid often to the extent of never being able to consistently be around anyone for more than a few days. His occupation lends itself to landing him in prison, in trouble with the wrong people, or on the mundane side dealing with angry or displeased. His life is often a struggle to keep fed and keep warm trying simply to survive via what means he can. In the end he makes it often times harder on himself as he refuses to work for the same person more than two times in a row and insists upon traveling and remaining entirely free lance despite offers from many for him to join traveling groups or other organizations which would insulate and help him significantly. When the worst comes and a fight is upon him often he finds himself with little other options to use his defensive training and evade waiting for the opportunity to strike if he can afford it or simply to run away.

Birthsign - The Serpent. “You knew what I was when you saved me.”

Religious Views - “So you like plots and I like to whisper.” Lagu was always drawn to things of a certain nature and this seems to bleed into every aspect of his life. He found a certain comfort from fascination and common beliefs with the old tribunal and the Daedra who formed it. In them he found those who prized plots, murders, lies, sex, and all these deliciously intricate things. In that moment he was sure he had found something he could believe in especially upon seeing aspects of the light and the star that guided when these things were wrong or right and gave a sense of justice to it all.

Politics Views - “The best government is benevolent tyranny tempered by the occasional assassination.” You would be hard pressed to find out if Lagu really cares about anything political in spite of his obvious interest. Ever charismatic and clever, but just always the hint of his devious nature he skirts around ever answering his own opinions always finding a way to get something more out of those he is talking to often leaving with them hardly even knowing a single fact about him or opinion. If you had him alone and perhaps gained his trust you might find the root of some conviction or belief that he holds dear, but many would not be pleased with those answers and those truths as often the lies and games are much sweeter to the ears.
