Welcome the Stranger's Pleasure - RP master thread
The Stranger's Pleasure is an open RP with a rule set to ensure a satisfying experience for all participants.
The setting evolves around an old tavern, located in South-Eastern Cyrodil, near the borders of the black marsh. The events of the Elder Scrolls Online have yet begun, and even though the tensions between the races have increased, no out of ordinary hostilities exist.
The Stranger's Pleasure draws in particularly shady folk. It is filled with wenches, drug addicts, gamblers, loan sharks and what not. The tavern is located in North-Eastern part of Blackwood, and has rather notorious reputation.
The five points of interest around the tavern are all named by locals.
Misty forest - especially gloomy part of Blackwood, and according to locals is work of devilry itself. The mist hides the monsterities that lurk in the shadows, and the location is favored among certain Bandit clans. There is one road that travelers consider safe that continues north towards Cheydinhal. The very same road circles around the treacherous marches to the Old Mill, and is the safest way to reach it.
Besides the road, the Old Mill is surrounded by a march, which the locals have named Treacherous marches. These marches are rumored to be haunted, and the visibility is next to zero. In addition they are filled with nature's own traps, and a weary traveler will most likely find himself drowned, if not met by an violent end. The mill itself is rumored to be a nesting place of a witch.
North-west of the tavern resides the Gray lake. Once beautiful, crystal clear water has turned into gray, and no wildlife seems to enjoy its delights. Wind rarely blows on the lake, and the Gray lake appears to be asleep.
North of the lake lies the Howling mountains, which appears to be the very reason for the northern winds not to blow on the lake. The mountains peaks are sharp, filled with gaps and holes that cause the wind to send distorted sounds about. Some have claimed an old Siltstrider floats about, singing its sad song. Using the mountain as its instrument.
Ruleset:
Each TESOF member participating in the RP will either enter the tavern as patron or the player has enjoyed its delights for a time already. The RP is not open RP, and will be ruled by the almighty gamemaster (That's me, folks). Each location you enter, each event that happens. I'll be casting the virtual dice, and that will be your fate, who you encounter, who wins the fight, does your character stumble into swamps eye... (Naturally, all reactions etc are written, but the rolls determine outcomes, such of fights, who do you run into at the Misty forest etc). Players will write for their characters, and their characters alone.
The tavernkeeper enjoys rumor mongering, so if you are looking for action, he's the one to talk to, and yes. He will be the one telling you spooky stories of that witch haunting the mill, or hires you to pick berries in moors close to the gray lake.
To make sure no tavern brawl occurs (wouldn't occur anyway, as the dice would cast you with lightning) or the even more typical, the tavern catching fire is prevented by overly large orc bouncer, who enjoys cracking skulls.
(The map will include hidden locations for participants to stumble upon. Don't want spoilers, do we?)
Each TESOF member participating the RP will have to post on the masterthread their character with following format:
Quote:Name:
Race:
Age:
Class:
Power level:
Perk(s):
Description:
Notes:
Example of:
Quote:Name: Nehemia
Age: N/A
Race: Nord
Class: Nightblade
Power level: Four
Perk(s): Vampire
Description: write character looks etc here
Notes: (Yes, he will be affected by the merciless dice rolls)
Where Class has to be one of the pre-defined classes of Elder Scrolls game. If you aren't familiar with them:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Classes . Do note that this is to limit the amount of skills your character is good at (If you are unsure which class pick the one that has MOST of skills and attributes that your character has. For example Nehemia isn't a nightblade, but the skill set matches of that, so he is written down as a nightblade). Power level determines the estimated power of your character on levels of 1 to 5. Where 1 is a mere peasant, and 5 is a battle-hardened, expert warrior. Keep in mind that this power level will not affect the dice rolls, as the Hemareus Mora is a nasty little Daedra, and cares more of the dice than your characters strength. Perks are little things, such as surprisingly resistant to fire, your character has a iron stomach and can eat anything or is extremely keen on moon sugar. Keep in mind that if you attempt to stack up positive perks, there have to be negatives to balance it out. Perks may or may not give minor benefits to dice rolls.
Quote:Example perks list:
- Healthy as an Ox: The plague seems to be avoiding you.
- Agile: You are less likely to stumble in the wilderness
- Brilliant Mind: You are extremely capable of guessing even the most difficult riddles!
- Lucky: You appear to stumble upon positive things more often
- Tough as nails: Your skin is burnt to lesser extend by fire
- Nimble fingers: A sneaky thief does not get caught very often
- Born in woods: You seem to have easier time navigating directions.
- Unlucky: The lady luck certainly does not favor you
- Intolerance to cold: Frost damage seems to have additional efficiency against you
Of course you can come up with your own ones!
How does this dice rolling and thread play out?
Have a sudden feeling in your mind that something might happen? Request a dice roll by writing for events etc.
[Dice roll] at the end of your post.
Having a grudge? Up for fighting, request fight outcome (has to be rolled before the fight starts) by writing [Playername initiate fight playername/NPCname]
Do note that I will be watching, and crossing through those marches with 1 post and 0 events ain't going to happen, but you can take safer paths without events (Events may be positive or negative, depending on the mood of the GM).
Otherwise, you're free to go and write. The whole point is to attempt to create a good rounded write up for reading pleasure of other peeps, and of course participants. Try to keep most of the OOC in this thread.
Quote:The dice roll system
A random number between 0-100
Events have different outcomes (from 2-10, randomed by splitting the 2-10 into 10's).
Fights are determined by 50-50
Where depending on the number, rounding up to the nearest 10, decides how the fight had taken place
Player A: Has rolls of 1-40
Player B: Has rolls of 61-100
Roll 90-100: Player A suffers a humiliating defeat
Roll 80-90 Player B reigns victorious with barely a scratch
Roll 70-80 Player B is slightly wounded, but wins
Roll 61-70 Player B is barely victorious, and is wounded in process
Roll 40-60 Draw, rolls 50-60 deal damage to both participants, roll 40-50 no one receives damage
Roll 30-39 Player A is barely victorious, and is wounded in process
Roll 20-30 Player A is slightly wounded, but wins
Roll 10-20 Player A reigns victorious with barely a scratch
Roll 0-10 Player B suffers a humiliating defeat
Keep in mind that this will be a complete spin-off. The area is secluded, so there's no need to care for little details. Also if your character dies, no one considers him dead outside this thread. If you die, just post a new character and you're back in the "Game". The time-line isn't of greatest importance! Its somewhere in 2E8xx. And that's it.
Questions? Good. Let's roll. The RP thread comes after few characters have signed up.
