I'd like to gather ideas and suggestions here, that we as community can propose to the developers. Similar to the questions thread, I will sort suggestions by playstyles.

Now you might be wondering how to get suggestions on this list. For future entries, be sure to have the capablities of modern day entertainment industries in mind and make sure that your suggestion was posted and discussed on this board before.

Ultimately it's about what we as a community can come about, and, even though it might have been a work of many, to acknowledge the works of those who started it all.

I'll give you an example and the very first entry of this list:

Why is that a thing? Because, it beeing just an alternative to other ultimates, makes it more rareley used and because in the lore the nords have been using the Voice alot more prominently in the second era as we know from lore snippets, it only fits if you ask me. It would be neat if youd have to do a quest for it.

Why wouldnt it be too bizzare? Cause it wouldnt be all that good most likeley. Its a rather Chaotic CC ability, therfore something of obscurity. But viable in the hands of someone who knows when and how to use it. Also it beeing an Ultimate ability it would not be spammable.

Good idea, indeed. Wonder what the other races' ultimates could be, if they were following this concept.

Also it does not have to be an Ultimate for all the Racials, see the Ultimate Racial just replaces the Ultimate youd usually have, so it doesnt matter if your race actually has one , youll always have only one Ultimate Ability, those who played Guild Wars 2 probably understand my concept better.

Definitely! Sordak's post is up there to give an example how ideas and suggestion can be structured and discussed about. We'll have to refine those in order to deliver to the point suggestions, as I don't think reposting whole posts on the official forums will do any good.

But a list, compiled and gathered by many, where every topic can be linked back to a discussion, certainly will carry more weight than just a mere personal wish list, no matter how many good reasons you cite.

Now when we have an MMO and play against other players, will Illusion spells be completely useless (since they usually can't be used against the player, at least not in Skyrim). Could they be used by e.g. giving the target a positive/negative effect. "Fear" could make the target make less damage because he/she is insecure/afraid.

What's your take on that?

Looking at the Oblivion list from UESP (since production was started around that time, I figure it'll be closer to what they're thinking than Skyrim would be) I'm seeing a fair number of illusion spells that would still be at least somewhat useful in PvP straight out of the box: chameleon, invisibility, paralyze, and silence. Little direct damage, but all really good for a 'controller' role (which was lots of fun and very powerful in CoH groups, though pretty rough if soloing.) Demoralize, Rally, Frenzy and Calm could be used as buffs and debuffs respectively.

(Also, for completeness - some with indirect application:
Night-eyes, command-creature/command-humanoid (can't use on other players, but can be used to bring in mobs as temporary allies against them.

And then some that would be mostly PvE or non-combat oriented:
Calm, Light, Charm.)

So I wouldn't worry about Illusion being completely useless. If done right, I'd wager it'll likely even attain status as the "Elite School" - the one that's viewed as being the most difficult to use effectively, but most powerful when done so. (Whether the view is accurate or not.) Expect anyone who likes playing control decks in MtG to gravitate towards this school.

If done wrong... well, anything done wrong will suck.

Fear is, in an MMORPG, traditionally a Crowd controll that makes a target run away from your Character.

I could think of quite a few things to do with Illusion spells. Create Illusions of yourself to confuse the enemy for example. Pain in the ass in PvP.
Blind someone, wich is of course only an option if thers a proper combat system, otherwise it would just let people have a lower hit rating. You could silence people, wich again is always a usefull disable.
I could also see Illusion used as Speedbuffs for allies, wich is one of the most usefull skills in open world PvP.
Also snares, disables, dazes and invisibility fall into the illusion category.

If youre a bit creative you can come up with hundrets of usefull skills that fall into the Illusion school.
