How will time work in TESO?

I mean waiting like in previous TES games would cause some serious problems here, causing every player to play in a different time

And are set events in the timeline
Im curous how fast time will flow here in comparison to our own time, this way we can calculate at which time certain events should happen aswell

Ive never played a MMO before, but it will probably be similair to other MMOs
Problem is, i dont know at all how it works in other games

There will be 6 day/night cycles within one real-life day. There can't be as in-depth a time system in the single player games because this is an MMO. Waiting won't work just cause you can't pause the whole game :p usually MMO's inhabit sort of a never-progressing time space.

Yeah i know what you mean, but most games dont have a calender like TES does
This is why time must keep flowing forward in the game

But yeah ofcourse it wont stop things like the battle for cyrodill or something

And thanks for the day/night cycle info
Didnt know that was known already

Yep, Ferroc is correct! They've mentioned in passing in video interviews that there's a 4-hour day/night cycle. Come to think of it a lot of information is hard to pinpoint because it's only mentioned in video interviews. Hm.

But if you want a direct source, they've set up a sort of FAQ thing on their main site's support section. Links below!

I don't know if they can really progress through time even with this game (especially this game) since they can only go so far before they bump into morrowind, or whatever game takes places next. Hopefully they'll figure out a way to make it make sense

Yes i can be hard to find specific information, so thanks for those links

and yes they have to stop somewhere with progressing in time, maybe theyll have a reset many years from now
You wouldnt have to worry about morrowind tough, thats over 600 years in the future i think, so that would take 100 years in game

But things like the end of the pandemic in black marsh and elsweyr, should only take a few years
If this is any indication for when well be abke to explore those provinces, id say we can expect that in about 3 years, perhaps sooner as the disease recedes before that, but about 3 years(in real life) after the start of TESO should the disease come to an absolute end

But maybe they dont include a calender like in the other games, but youd still be able go calculate the time anyway
