I was lost as I walked around the large city. It was filled with life and many going about their business like usual. Food carts, blacksmiths, and the usual sound of feet hitting stone; I enjoyed this sound but only in rare cases. Swords being made with the occasional stench of people was always a refreshing surprise to what it was like being in the wild.I have spent much time in Skyrim which was strange for a wood elf but something always brought me back here; perhaps it was the mountains or the stubborn Nords either way this brought a smile to my face. I turned a corner and there it was, what I was looking, the Orphange.
"Many of these children are without homes and the orphanage is reaching it's limit," the woman spoke to the nearby passerby's. I was one of them but I decided to enter as she was speaking to a couple who actually seemed interested; though I doubt they would go through with it. I pushed a slight curtain to the side and could hear children at play. I peeked around the corner and the room was alive. Light hit all corners from the stained glass windows and inside the middle seemed to be a strange platform but scattered in corners were beds with colored sheets; red, blue, purple, and brown. I stepped around the corner and leaned against the pillar and watched at the nurse tended to a few boys.
"You will be fine here my boy," She was speaking to this one child who was clearly crying before I had entered.
He seemed silent but then he managed to muffle out a few words, "they are gone aren't they?"
The nurse hushed him and patted him slowly dragging him to a bed possibly to nap.
I was in awe in this situation; not that I wanted kids myself but I felt terrible that these young ones have no family. I felt I could relate and that they all needed a chance like I had. I caught myself not breathing which brought me out of watching the children.
I headed for the exit quickly for throat felt heavy and seemed like I couldn't swallow. I exited out into the bust streets which seemed more packed than before. A cart with apples pressed on through the crowd as I exited.
The woman from before spoke softly to me, " It's not an easy sight." She knew I had seen some of the orphans.
"No," I paused," no not in the slightest." I said this pulling out my coin purse and placing it in her hands. " This should bring them all food and water. Possibly some new clothes and baths?" I said this more as a suggestion hoping it would help in adoptions. The woman looked down at her hands in slight disbelief realizing it wasn't coins. " I trust you will put that to good use; they will have to be traded in for gold." I smiled and looked back at the crowded streets deciding when I would enter into the mass of people again. I took a step away not looking back at the woman hoping my small stones had been given to the right hands.
