Too much mouse use

Is anybody else worried that there is too much mouse use for an mmo.

I currently play Rift and LOVE mmos and REALLY want to like TESO but there is too much mouse use for me to think I can play this game.

I would always use 3rd person view and wouldn't want to "AIM" anything.

I hope they allow controller use for pc at release or I might have so skip this game and that worries me plus who wants to waste $60 on a game they will suck at.

By your logic nobody should do anything..

Nobody starts good at anything, you develop skills.
Whether you like it or not its actually good for your cognitive function.
Sticking to easy games whilst its fun for a little while, without a challenge you will get bored a lot faster.

There is a large player base who are after heavily skill based games due to almost all current games being watered down, where a skilled player can be beaten by one who isn't. In which its not worth time or effort if it gets you nowhere.

I was posting to see if somebody else might have had the same concern as me because I have found in other mmos that most people hate touching the mouse with playing mmos cause you have 2 hands one for arrow movement keys and one for hot keys bringing the mouse into play makes that extremely difficult.

You can state that you can use wasd and number keys on the same hand but I still have enough trouble with just the damn number keys after 15 years of mmos.

So I was curious if anybody else here had the same worries that there would be too much mouse play for a person like me to enjoy the game and be any good at it.

I would be surprised if there wasn't any support for those who use controllers with PC, also you can get a mouse with buttons on it's side so you can press them with your thumb if you really want to use mouse and arrow keys.

Not only does the mouse useage compliment the console playing style blended into trad. mmorpg methodology but also Zenimax's ethos of creating a game that is visceral, tangible and more about what is on the screen, and not what skills are CD on your bar.

Point of note; Morrowind uses exactly the same kind of mouse dynamics while DDO, which defined the mouse as main tool in combat for an mmorpg, which thankfully, TESO has adopted, uses exactly the same mouse controls. I.E. being able to target, dodge and roll out of the way are activated through the mouse. For any Morrowind PC player the mouse as key control gave the true sense of immersion plus target system.

However, I would agree having keys on the board that work the same way should be an option, for those who cannot master another methodology for actioning the avatar (in combat).

I use a Naga mouse and am expecting to be very immersed in the game. It will take some getting used to, as I am most comfortable with the SWTOR interface, but I'm looking forward to the UI in TESO.

I personally hate the traditional mmo combat system its too easy and lets players face roll.

Completely agree. Being able to lock your target then you just focus on spamming buttons just simply offers nothing other than learning which order to press buttons in.

With the mouse usage, you are forced to keep focus on the game screen, and be aware of whats happening rather than 'tab next target, face/lock and spam buttons'.

Weel Said!

TESO is not the tipical MMORPG, it is something new, an evolution, what I was waiting for. First person combat system in a mmorpg, finally I can try to block with my shield a enemy skill basing on my ability in combat, not only on the equipment and macro!

My opinion is that I am tired of smashing numbers. This is a good thing and a different feeling, that I bet I will get used to and will be extremely fun to experience it. I can only imagine how the moves will look.

'Most people hate touching the mouse?' Surely not. I honestly couldn't imagine playing an MMO without a keyboard and mouse combo and have done so for many years. All the people I know who play MMOS, which is a lot of people, all use a keyboard and mouse too. 'Key turning' is such a slow method of moving about.

It may be controversial to have this opinion but i'm glad they haven't wasted time implementing a bespoke controller system for the PC version.

Sorry, this made me lol IRL. It's kind the point of the game.

In every MMO I've played, I refuse to key turn. Why would I use the keys to slowly turn around when I can instantly snap around with the mouse? Also, I make macros and change hot keys around to make moving and attacking easier to do.
