In one of the synergy interviews they mentioned a trap tactic where you'll be able to lay one down and have your buddies add effects to it.

I think spellcasters and thieves with the right abilities will get to place traps. Mages already have those markings that detonate when stepped on in TES V, so why not TESO?


If an argonian turned into a werecrocodile would there be any difference in appearance? Like, at all?

In the "advanced combat" vid on game informer they said you can lay traps, also in the intro vid you see a player run through part of a dungeon that had spikes coming out the ground with a small safe path through, so both are in

I really was expecting Admiral Akbar when I clicked on this thread.

Traps are good, and probably not that complicated to implement. The ability to make traps would be invaluable in situations such as defending keeps or bottlenecks.

now this is just me speculating but in the advanced combat interview that someone previously mentioned traps were sort of talked about. nick konkel? the lead combat design guy mentioned in an example of how players can play off of eachother that a rougish type guy put down a trap and a mage threw a rune on it and the warrior type guy put caltrops (super sharp jacks) down to make a more deadlier trap for whoever was stupid or blind enough to step in it. this leads me to believe that yes most classes will have some type of trap. theyre not all going to be the same thing but when i say trap i mean something you put on the ground and wait for someone to set off.

These traps will be class specific skills. Eg. Sorcs have runes and Nightblades have caltrops.
They won't be items you can place.

Caltrops are a trap enhancement placed by a "warrior" class. They didn't elaborate on which class that is, but I'm guessing dragonknight. The character that places the trap is not the warrior, but another class -- probably the Nightblade, if there isn't another archer specific class that they haven't revealed yet.
