So pretty simple question that no one has asked (that I've seen) is how would a player travel from say Whiterun down to Blackmarsh. Considering there are no "flight paths" and disregard any "quicktravel/recall " abilitys one can only assume it would be my wagon.. God I hope there are like 15min wagon rides to your destination.Winking_grinning

Go to the video section and watch the Elder Scrolls Uncovered Ep 11 we discussed Traveling.

But in Short, Wayshrines are the quick travel, can only travel to ones you've discovered, and Mounts have been confirmed but only Horses, No Battle Goats or Mud Crabs

I think that wayshrines are going to be limited in number, so as to let you wander in the world and not traveling from the one spot to another. I'm not that sure though, Garbrac knows better

I am sort of disappointed by the wayshrines tbh, was hoping the fast travel systems would be more area specific, like visiting a silt strider in morrowind or a horse and cart in skyrim etc, don't mind being able to port to a main city, but I think traveling around the local map should be done with local transport systems that are area specific.

Horses are faster than Wagons.

Hopefully they have a wayshrine in the Alliance capital.

I honestly think the whole idea of "flight paths" they had in WoW, Some were in LOTR, or even the racer things they had in SWTOR were amazing. The main thing you want to avoid in any immersive game is loading screens. Even skyrim had it right where even if you walk through a door, it'd load pretty much instantly. Caves & Dungeons took a bit longer, but it still keeps you immersed in the game. I honestly don't see why they would make instant teleports that throw up a loading screen. . DEFINITELY not have the stupid click to fast travel to locations that were in Skyrim & Oblivion. . I mean sure, you discovered it . . so now you can instantly dart across the map? Lame.

I like the idea of having horse carts to major cities. Maybe have each city with teleport things to other cities, and you can pay the cart guy to take you to cities that you haven't been to yet, but it just takes a long time to go there. Even so, you'd get to see all the landscapes and such, which I think would be awesome.

From what I have read the Devs want people to explore the world, its one of their aims ...
I support this. To me, fast travel means you miss most of the experience.

Yeah, I agree with Thren, Morrowinds exploration shattered that of Oblivion and Skyrim.
Fast travel should only be done like in Morrowind, purchasing a ride on a Silt Strider!

I also agree with this. I was hoping to be able to explore and roam the world a bit and take it all in. Plus you never know what quest you might find on the way for all of you PvE players.

Fast travel would be exploited anyway, I remember in morrowind there were ways that you could skip from town to town, silt strider to siltstrider, and manage to get close to every compass point of the map, and that was before the master index and propylon chambers.
If you don't want to use fast travel, don't! It's easier said than done I know.

I think as @Ivixor mentioned, they would be few and far inbetween to get you traversing the wilderness, and maybe step into trouble on the way.

I intend to start skyrim again sometime before Teso and try to complete it on master (DLC included) not using the fast travel at all. Just for the immersion.

fast travel will be done through wayshrines.
kinda upsets me not because i dont want fast travel, i do want fast travel, this is an MMO thats how they work, if you dont want fast travel im sure you can have the self controll to just not do it.

But i actually want travel through silst striders, rootworms and the other good stuff!

Mounts my friend.
Mounts.
But yeah, fast travel will be done with the shrines, I dunno if it will cost septims or what, but I like that there is fast travel. Don't get me wrong, I love scenery and stuff, but fast travelling is the way to go, in my opinion, even when roleplaying (Only if everyone else does so). But I will love running (or riding) through the black marsh :DD.

We'll surely have mounts...what's an elder scrolls game without mounts and housing...wait, housing isn't in game yet *worried look*

I really miss having Silt Striders, Mages guild, Mark & Recall and the Propylon chambers being the only forms of fast travel. I really liked the way they had it set up in Morrowind. The only thing I liked better about Oblivion and Skyrim was the fact you could have your own horses.

But for an MMO, I guess you need the convenience of some forms of fast travel. As long as there aren't too many wayshrines and that they aren't overpriced to uselessness (I'm looking at you GW2), I'll be ok with them.
