Here is the information so far on buffs.

Quote:“By choosing your weapon, passives, and buffs and filling your five active ability slots, you’ll really decide how you want to approach any given situation.”

“A quick potion slot allows players to drink an alchemical mixture in the middle of combat, although the use of this potion slot features a short (20-30 second) cooldown. In addition to these instant-use potions, there are also draughts and foods which can buff the player for a longer duration and are useable before combat.”

“The Dragonknight has an ultimate ability Chosen Ground which plants a standard which emanates an aura granting the Dragonknight dramatically increased defensive resilience for a short time. A nearby ally can leverage this opportunity and activate United We Stand, allowing him or her to share the standard’s defensive benefit.”

“Mundus stones, which function similarly to guardian stones in Skyrim, allowing the player to choose a permanent buff associated with a particular constellation.”

So from this information we can assume there will be food/potion buffs, synergy buffs, and permanent (probably experience) buffs.

What other buffs would you like to see? (Class specific, Single target, AoE … etc)

Is there a need for more buffs?

Since this is TES divine blessings are expected and if the illusion school is kept, they could act as buffs on players, negatively and positively. Alteration and restoration spells could provide self and target buffs as well. It would make sense if enchantments were linked in the same category. I haven't read any info on weather these Chosen Ground or United We Stand are "class" abilities, but it seems they were likely obtained through skill trees or maybe joining a special guild were said Dragonknight got this title. Buffs are an integral part of many MMOs if not all, in my experience many fights won came down to momentary leaps in ability at the right time. In addition to what they've spoken about already, there is plenty of room for more.

Edit: So I was just watching the ESO Weekly - Q&A February 18th, 2013 and learned Dragonknight is a pre-set class in the alpha, so if these abilities are class specific than not just anyone can get them. This news saddens me. I thought they were trying to get away from classes. Also Illusion will work similarly to the way it used to in TES and you'll be able to break from it somehow at the expense of stamina. I still want buffs for my paladin though.

I would like some single-target buffs, because then you (maybe) must choose tactically who to buff.
