So, do you all think it will work like it does in Skyrim? For example, will I be able to make a full on, old style Cleric type of toon with full plate, a mace and a shield and be able to heal? Or will I have to forgo the shield in order to heal? IE, Have one hand free to cast?

Just curious. :)

Weapon skills are on 1 and 2 while spells will be a function of your 3 4 and 5 buttons, meaning you will not have to unequip your weapons to cast spells. I'm sure however that there will be spells associated with Destruction and Restoration staffs that you wont have access to with other weapons.

nope.

Since spells are not bound to your hand. that realy does not restrict you.

Well that is good news! Sounds like I'll be able to make the type of toon I am planning on. :P If anyone played a cleric in Vangaurd, then you know what I am after. :P

Yes, like Sordak said, you'll be able to have a shield and mace and still be able to cast heals (Especially if you get the class skills from Templar for it).

Just info i've read and heard from others but out of the 4 classes, the Templar is considered to have a class healing line skill tree, As for weapons, the restoration staff looks like the weapon that will bring heal skill abilities. So if you want mace shield you might want to go with the Templar class. there is still a lot unknown, the races will have their own skill trees and there is suppose to be a couple PVP skill trees there will be a lot of hidden skill trees aswell, like vampire. All could have some type heal abilities in them. Also when you level and put your points into magika, stamia or health there will be stuff aswell

Ah, great, thanks Pirhana. :) Hopefully my dream of building an old fashioned full plate cleric will work out. :)

Pirhana is right. You will probably want to go mace/shield and a resto staff on your quick change. Staffs are two handed but resto staff will have heal skills Templars don't have. But Templar heals are castable with weapon and shield equipped

I wonder if there will be anyone who uses a resto staff, and maybe one heal on the hotbar, and then focuses the other four abilities towards damage dealing. Kind of an off-healer/support DPS build. Think it's viable?

I dont want to jump the gun here, but.... NO, you can slot ability's any way you want as long as you meet requirements, you are not bound to "1 2 weapon sills" or 3 4 5 spells...

Like it was said before, then info we got are mostly podcast, intervies and articles.

So far we know every class will haw its own "style" of utility spells, like Sorcerer will be able to Blink, Dragon Knight has his Chain pull, and Templat will be able to use some of his Heal spells without Restoration Staff.
So if you wish for Mace and Shield healer, i advise you to go for Templar.

From what i seen yes its possible to do that, how far effective will it be? We cent be sure without actually trying the game, and we still mostly in the dark when it comes to Other Skill lines.

We do know that auto attack from restoration staff does damage, and its Power attack is channel damage spell as well...

But it is confirmed that our first two skills will be weapons abilities, the rest are our choice, and 1 ultimate.

That's actually wrong/outdated. You get your basic weapon attacks which aren't on the hot bar (Regular attack, Power Attack, Block, etc.), plus 5 slots for weapon/class/AvA/racial/guild/vampire/werewolf/etc, plus an ultimate.

Yes I know the auto attacks arent on the hotbar, but the first two skills are weapon-related abilities. IE: if you play with daggers, the first ability could be you rolling around the enemy and stab him, and the second could be you throw the dagger for a ranged attack. These of course probably wont be in-game, just an example.

The people I talked to who played it at PAX said that you could put anything in all five of your slots, and the leaked footage I have shows the same thing.
