Hey guys,

So I want to be a ’tank’ who’s also a good mage for healing. I love to be on the frontline and like to take it upon the heavy armed persons at the battlefield without being killed in the first 5min. So now I am seriously doubting of which race and what class. I think the best class for this will be the templar, yet I have to choose my race.

But it has to be a race from the daggerfall! I was thinking templar orc, because it's a different combination but I'm not sure and would like to know more!

So what do you guys think which race and class of the Daggerfall will complete these tasks the best? Any combination is welcome and why that combination?

Thank you :)

Sounds like you know what you're going with already. Templar orc would be a cool combination to see. Templar would be the best tanky/healing class I can think of.

I heard Breton was the best class for this but I'm not sure. What would be the difference with them?

Breton is a race. Race won't matter as much for character builds unless you really wanna go hardcore into. We don't have any info on racial skill trees yet however. But from previous games Bretons are better mages than orcs, but Orcs are better warriors. Of course you can make an Orc mage in this game and it could be just as strong *possibly*

Yeah sorry I ment race, well that's the thing about those skill-trees. Would it be more positif to take a breton because he'll probably get more benefits for magick than orc? I don't know what te effects and skills are but I suppose it is going that way. Guess I'll have to wait to find out. And because you're so free in ESO that I don't mind trying a mix that has absolutely no sense like a mage orc.

There won't be any racial bonusses. The best class for healing would have to be the Templar class.

There are skill-trees per race, so I guess there are going to be skills/bonusses per race.
We know that you can mix everything in TESO and everything is possible but without that there is no reason to pick a race accept for his appearence

The best tank would be a Nord, and the best healer a Breton. Though the Nord has no aptitude for magicka and the Breton has no aptitude for swordmanship, or melee weapon and strength in general.

A Dunmer would balance it out well. A Dunmer templar. Though if the majority of the stuff you're gonna do is based around melee and taking blows your best bet would be a Nord templar. Though there are already too many Nords.

He did say Daggerfall Covenant ;P
I would say an Orsimer would be harder to bring down than a Nord, I am not trying to start a war... just my 0.02c

I think what you have now if fine @Skiserony. Lore-wise an Orsimer would be a great tank race and the Templar class is perfect for melee and heals but will cost you a lot of magicka: http://elderscrollsonline.info/templar

Yeah so that is why I can go enchanting to make that good. I guess I'll probably take that race, but there is still some time.

Any suggestions still welcome, for further help of others

Thank you :)

Orc is definitely one of the hardiest races of Tamriel. Gonna guess their skill line will involve heavy stuff. But if you spec attribute points (health stamina magicka) at maybe a 2:1:1 ratio (2 being magicka) or like 2:1:2 (the second 2 now being hit points) you could form a character naturally built for tanking but conditioned into someone with a large enough magicka pool (and spending skill points in maybe a heal staff or even better the Templar skill line based in healing) and the right skills to also heal. Basically this build would offer no offensive abilities whatsoever. Focusing on increasing your health and armour by using heavy armour and getting the full set bonus, and sledding into magicka heavily should keep you as a great tank who can do some not bad heals. But again your abilities would be so defensive focused unless you used a two handed weapon being offensive might be difficult.

Best Class is a Templar. They are designed to be the primary healer. Tanking I've heard the DK is the best. Templar is very similar to a paladin in WoW with Healing, Tanking, DPS capabilities.

Also since this is an mmo race won't make a difference in what class you play. Most racial abilities tend to be very minor Ex: 5% increase to Magicka Pool.

i understand in traditional ES games, creating something like a healing tank is quite possible but i dont think that translates well into an mmo.

think about it. you want a damage sponge that can also heal itself? so you want the best of both worlds? you want to just be invincible?

thats what i got out of it anyway.

think about how this would impact pvp. i dont think a single one of you would appreciate a healing heavy armored damge soaking tank rolling through the pvp zone of cyrodil. i sure as hell wouldnt.

lets be reasonable and realistic.

Hey now, don't steal my class AND race ;)

To the question of the OP - I personally would say Templar.
Restoration + Alteration + Heavy Armor + One-handed + Shield = tank in my eyes. Possibly something in illusion magic if there is any way of granting your allies a more elusive offense. I.E. confusing the enemy or buffing an ally with some sort of invisibility or something. The class in the end doesn't make the tank, but what skills you level up. To me those are the only skills that would prove vitally useful.

Lol don't worry. I plan on being a redguard dragon knight. Full offensive, with just heavy armour as my defence. I find the combo of Orc Templar interesting tho. Don't often see Orc, which are often thought of as bestial, primal and warlike, in the role of a Templar knight, a refined and pious archetype. It's like mixing two completely different worlds
