Smithing, alchemy, provisioning, enchanting etc? Which is most useful and how does it give you the edge?

I am doing blacksmith, clothing, and enchanting. Personally I like enchanting the most, although it is the hardest one to level.

All of them. They are all amazing and they each have their own advantages and disadvantages.

I think that alchemy is the most versatile, as all classes can benefit from some top end consumables. However, I always go with alchemy in ES games, and even when I played WoW, so I think I will stay away from alchemy in TESO (at least with my main character, perhaps when I make an alt I will explore alchemy).

The like enchanting, and I think I will have this as my primary crafting skill on my first character, and then maybe go provisioning as my second profession, since those long duration buffs should come in handy.

The fires burn. Our supplies are spent. Axes are dull, and armor is rent. The enemy approaches, our doom, they seek. We are Daggerfall Covenant. We are Orcs. Our comrades, they come, for glory they seek, at the side of our iron and steel. We will not fall.

I enjoy blacksmithing, since I'm really big into saving money and crafting my own armor. Besides that, I really like provisioning. The drinks offer good regen abilities for health, magic, and stamina, and I've been making a lot of money from it. I search/loot everything I can, so I end up with a lot of recipes and food ingredients. What helps is that I have a perk that creates 2 items when I make one, so if I make 20 pies worth 3 gold each, it doubles to 40 and I make 120 gold.

That, and I found a few recipes for sweetrolls, which I think is freaking awesome lol

The more I get into provisioning the more I like it. Those buffs are amazing.

I really enjoy the leather working, having to kill something before you shape its mangled corpse into a delightful skin armor piece, I find really enjoyable. I'm also venturing into iron working aswell but I prefer the HUNT. I like finding those areas where you make special pieces of armor, that is great fun.

Tailoring, because a true Altmer need the best and finest silks on the market and the best way to do that is to secure and tailor those yourself ... And Woodworking, because damn... Them staves...

Then after those probably Alchemy, Enchanting, Blacksmithing, Provisioning... In that order... Though I do love provisioning so its a very positive order...

I don't really have a most-favorite right now. I think enchanting is my least favorite. This is mainly because a good many of the enchantments are good only for jewelry, and unenchanted jewelry is (in my experience) only available at great cost from a small number of vendors. Combine this money sink with the low benefit of early-level enchantments, the low resale value of lower-level enchantments at NPC merchants, and the fact that enchanting stones don't even stack post-combine, and one is looking at a rather useless skill at the lower levels.
