Daggerfall Covenant (Orc)
HUGE two-handed maces and axes with nice small details.... And when you add some relics/stones/artifacts at them they would glow or some small animation over the weapon of choice of gem

I'm a great lover of spears, especially when wielded by Saxhleel mages.

Too bad they are rarely included in video games.

As long as they're few and relatively unique. Don't get me wrong, I like katanas aswell, but I really don't want everyone in the game running around swinging one. It's painful as it is with the weapons mod for Skyrim, which pretty much ended with every hold guard/ bandit in my game carrying one. Totally messed up the feel.

On topic: I want spears, one-handed aswell as two-handed.

If an argonian turned into a werecrocodile would there be any difference in appearance? Like, at all?

the fun thing is. many of the last generation of MMOs had a metric TON of weapon types. everquest 2 had spears, polearms, two and one handers, knives, staffs, bo staffs, jo sticks, scythes, axes, swords, katanas, wakizashis, tonfas, hammers, maces, one handet pikes, shortbows, longbows, whips, slingshots, crossbows, throwing knives, throwing stars, wands, shields, tower shields, brass knuckles and 2 distinct styles of unarmed combat with actual martial arts mocap.

So yeah. if EQ2 can pull that off, ESO should be ASHAMED of its PATHETIC arrey of weapons.

And thats not only EQ2. Even WoW beats ESO WoW has: spears, polearms, glaives, guns, crossbows, these weird nightelve blade things, naginatas, double sidet swords (with a blade on each side of the hilt) and chakrams too. Even that is ALOT more than what TESO has.
Thats pretty damn pathetic if im totaly honest.

The sad thing is that most of those are only special skins. For different weapon types WoW only have one and two handed swords, axes, maces, aswell as bows, guns, crossbows, polearms, staffs, fist weapons, daggers, throwing knives and wands. It's still lots and lots of weapons, though.

The only game I know of with actual glaives as a weapon type was kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. I only played the beta, but glaives were awesome in that game.

in WoW maybe. But in EQ 2 no. Bo staffs have a completeley different set of animations to regular staffs. so have tonfas to other weapons.
Most of that stuff was high quality mocap, it just didnt connect very well.

and even then. WoW still beats it in unique animations.
TESO will only have: One handet weapons, two handet swords, two handet axe/blunt, dagger, shield, staff, bow.

thats pretty much what its going to be.

look at GW2. wich has the same animations (tho the swords have different swing animations from axes and hammers)
But then they also have guns, warhorns, pistols, one handet staffs...

its a pretty sad state of afairs for TESO.

I didn't mean EQ 2, and I agree with you completely. TES should add more weapon types, and it seems like they are actually trying to do that, at least from what I've seen from them lately.

Dawnguard added crossbows, and although they're supposed to be a very well-hidden secret they might slip inside TESO, but I'm not hoping for it.

As you yourself noticed, Sordak, spears are a recurring theme in the TESO artwork, and something lots of TES fans wants, so I'm pretty sure that Zen O will add them. Wether they'll be one handed, two handed, ranged or a combination of all three remains to be seen, though.

With Dragonborn Beth tried to add spears to Skyrim aswell, but in my opinion they did a pretty half-assed job with it, since the spears are pretty much arrows fired by bows. What Dragonborn did do well was to add staffcrafting, with which staffs that were actually worthwile using were finally added to the game. It's not a new kind of weapon, but it vastly improved something that was already in the game.

I think that if only looking at Tamriel we won't be seeing many more new weapon types. Guns and firearms of any kind is something I think (and hope) will never be added to the TES series, at least not without an extensive explanation as to why and how they came to be. As for other weapon types, such as glaives, I'm pinning my hopes on Akavir. We've already seen that Akavir created the katanas, and although it's still just a sword it shows us that Akavirs have evolved warfare along different paths than Tamriel. It's not impossible that if we ever see an akaviran expansion or something along those lines that we'll then also discover "new" weapon types. The same can be said for the other continents aswell, probably, but I don't know very much about them.

I would like to see spears, throwing stars/knives and hopefully flaming swords like true flame from Morrowind.

because the tradition of the blades is based off the akaviri dragonslayers that payed heed to Tiber Septim.

The Akaviri were always integrated into Cyrodiil culture. From the reman era onward as the failed akaviri invasion left many of them in positions such as the Akaviri Potentate and the Proto - Warriors guild the Syffim (meaning Soldier in Tsaesci language)
