Which race/class set up?

Faction & Race:
Ebonheart Pact (Nord)
Well, hello Elder Scrolls community, I am completely new to this forum but not to the game. However, I was usually race jumping, class jumping, you name it. I just couldn't settle down on my favorite character/class.

Enough about that;

I've at least narrowed down my selection to being a mage, but this might sound crazy, but I've decided I want to be a high damage mage, with heavy armor. I just don't know how to round that off.

For a race, I'm personally fine with any character for aesthetics but I'd like it to match my class set up. However, as this may weigh in for my decision, I would prefer working with nords (and argonians, kinda Creepy).

Any thoughts, suggestions would help incredibly much, thank you :D

Hi welcome to the forum

Well you did kind of answer you own question!
As you have played TES games before you already know that you can do and be whatever you want. So you want to be a mage, wearing heavy armour? (battle mage) not a usual economical choice... obviously heavy armour slows you down and weakens your stamina reserves, you being a mage relying on magic not melee weapons, essentially a magical tank lol... hey it's elder scrolls do whatever you want to.

When it comes to races, essentially there are some that are more "naturally" sufficient at stealth, some at magic, and some as warriors but again it is elder scrolls, you be whatever.
If you have no prejudice for aesthetics or racial perks other than the actual benefit, I would suggest before making a decision, to at least side with a faction who's ethos you agree with, so that you are fighting for a cause, rather than racial patriotism.

As for the factions, you make your own mind up, after reading their stories and motivations.

So to recap, you want to be a magical welding mage, in each faction the greatest of the magical races are Altmer (high elf) for the Aldmeri dominion, Breton for the Daggerfall Covenant and Dumner (dark elf) for the Ebonheart Pact.
As you would like to fight alongside the Nords and Argonians, Dumner would be your best choice, I feel biased saying so as I am a fellow EP nord, look forward to seeing you on the battlefield ;)

Or you could go the opposite and embrace your love for heavy armour and be a good ol fashion (mage) Orc. That I would like to see.

Thanks for the help, I think I'll stick with Dunmer, because of my slow speed with heavy armor, I'll need good supporters to cover me. And if they do get close, I'll be profficent enough with a sword to stay alive until someone like you kills them.

Honestly, the mage with heavy armour is a good class setup. With heavy armour for good protection which a normal mage doesn't have. I'd definitely focus on getting good enchanted armour to boost magicka rgeneration and to increase your magicka pool. You should be able to hold your own in combat at long distance and at close range.

Anyway good luck and I hope this helps.

Well said, but the reason you would normally use robes instead of armour, is that your movement speed would increase dramatically so you could dodge and out run those with armour, never actually facing hand to hand melee combat also that robes normally have much more magical bonuses than any armour could.
It is elder scrolls though so you could compensate, I would suggest keeping a trusty blade beside you for those confrontations you would surly have, as you will have limited movement.

I'm gonna be a mage, but probably with light armor, and since it has the oblivion magic system I'll probably be wielding a dagger.

That's funny, it's almost the complete counter of my character.

Sword and shield melee fighter with a bit of magic in reserve for emergency situations.

Best of luck!

If you want to be a mage with heavy armor on I think you can do the no magica spells you do this by enchanting 4 armor in TESO this would be like putting a 25% less for magic destruction spells on a ring another ring your helm and your boots. Then you have all the destruction spells you want.

Wow, if that could be applicable in the game I definitely will!

They did that in Skyrim so why not in TESO?

I don't know, if they feel like changing it for some reason. In that case my player will work out perfectly :D

I understand you; I am in the same situation. I discovered TES with skyrim in 2011 and loved it, but I keep changing races so often. I usually play the same type of character but can’t decide on a race because so many looks nice and with interesting lore. I hope you find yours and love it!!
But I would strongly suggest you the Dunmers for you. You will start with high magic and be able to wear heavy armors. They are known to be good with destructive magic from the start. Early game, you will simply have to focus on building more magica since heavy armors are a bit less effective for that (as they are saying, don’t know the specifics details yet). But being in heavy armor, even if magica is more limited, it will be compensate by good durability… I think you will be doing just fine as a Dunmer battlemage!

Like in skyrim, i would master swords, archery, and concealment (sneaking). A perfect assassin, plus a backup weapon, I would reccomend a spear in TESO as a backup. They are long for keeping comfortable distance, light and quick, and good for almost any situation, out of magic, disarmed, current weapon broke if they bring that back, etc. I just hope they're not only throwing spears.

I am in the Sacred Order guild, I fight for them and Ebonheart Pact only. I plan to take charge as General in Ebonheart Pact, as I plan to go to victory in all battles and war. Those who follow me will see what I see, those who do not, will see the ground they lay face-down on.

For a heavy armour mage I would go Argonian as they seem better than Nords at magic but Nords are better with the armour.

Vlos Hithern!
The Blood Coven!

Va Khaj Dar!
The council of Arcanea!
