Love and Marriage or just Plain Old Bed Room Chatter.
You have to wonder, since Skyrim introduced this system into it's game *minus the bugs of course*. The Marriage System was more about single player marrying the best npc they could find, or the one that thought would be best.

- Would Marriage be in Game?
- Does it belong in an MMO?
- Would you Marry an NPC or a Friend or Loved One in Game?

.. These Questions are best answered by the Players ..
Please Lend us your Thoughts.

I think marriage of other players will be possible. Perhaps you could get some sort of buff when you are near your spouse?

By arrow. By blade.
By tooth. By claw.
By shock. By frost. By flame.
The Aldmeri Dominion will dominate Tamriel.
Our enemies will fall until the Throne is ours.

I had to quote my friend when I asked him this,
"Ohey I can marry peopl- woops, just married my sister's character."
But, I don't see how it can work, as much as it would add realism. It's not major, but it would be neat if they add it :)

Xefrenos - The Werecrocodile.

Marriage in an MMO is possible. However, I have only seen it implemented into one game that involved online players and its a game that youve probably never heard of.

The game was called Endless Online, and you could marry not an NPC, but marry another player. And if you were to inspect someones gear, it would tell you on the side who their spouse was. In game, going through the process of getting married was not easy. The male player had to first buy a ring from a vendor, a "Wedding Ring."

I should mention that these items were VERY expensive with in game gold. You then gave it to the female player, you would then have to buy her a "Wedding Dress" and buy yourself a "tuxedo" or suit. You would then go with your soon to be wife to the Church in the main city of the game, talk to the priest, pay HUGE fine, there would be a little ceremony with some heart animation n such. Then it would be over and the you would get a wedding dowry, but it wasnt anything compared to the gold you had just spent on getting married.

All you really got out of it was the fact that you could say you were married to another player in game.

I honestly dont see any benefit to adding this type of thing to an MMO. I fear that there are a lot of Skyrim / Elder scrolls players who have NEVER played an MMO, and are expecting a lot of what they get from a single player experience from the other games. But this is not the case. Yeah this game will be very similar to the other game but it is NOT SINGLE PLAYER. It is an MMO, and it ill be something that newbies to the MMO world will have to adjust to.

I see people talking about weapons they will use and such and how they hope that staves in this MMO will be good because staves in skyrim were not all that good, and you usually just used the magic from your hands. But that is not how MMO's work, yeah some weps in skyrim are better than others but there is no real huge defining difference between many unless they were relics or legendaries given to you by a Deadric Prince.

Wepons and gear in MMO's have stats, and so you wont have "lightning staff" - 14 lightning damage on hit. YOu might ave some of that but there will many many other stats i would imagine. Such as spell power or hit chance. Something a skyrim player ight not be as familiar with.

Not quite. They said it won't be available at launch, but they specifically said regarding this topic that "They will listen to the fans and if there is enough of a demand for something, they'll try to accommodate the players".

So basically, if we just show them how much money they could make by making marriage packs a cash-shop item (like they did with PWI), there's a good chance they'll add it in. However, I've noticed that this makes for insane amounts of drama with the whole "who is dating who" gossip.

I would say that, yes, it belongs in an MMO. With the amount of people who date within MMO settings, it makes a lot of sense to allow for this kind of a function.

However, it makes no sense to marry an NPC in an MMO. If your significant other plays the game though, I certainly don't see why not. I married my girlfriend in the MMO that we met on (see above, PWI). Been together for a year and a half now, so I would say it was definitely worth it. As for marrying a FRIEND in game... Unless you're doing it strictly for roleplay, if you're getting married to them there are some stronger feelings going on than just friendship.

I'd prefer to have player housing before they even think about marriage, but that might just be me...

If an argonian turned into a werecrocodile would there be any difference in appearance? Like, at all?

Everything belongs in an mmo. Its a fantasy life we all wish we could visit from time to time. Why not allow the person to do virtually anything they wish to do.

There has to be a limit though. It's not like this is IMVU or Second Life.
