I just had an idea about worshipping gods in TESO. Each player gets to pick whatever god they want to choose, I feel like it will add more immersion in the game and it'll be a little something more for role players. So what do you guys think?

Seems like something most people will RP into their character. If their were chapels/temples/shrines, that would be nice, but every god would need to be accounted for an regionally accurate. I want chapels for Auri-El, Xen, Phynaster, etc. in Summerset and Valenwood; and shrines to Alkosh, Khenarthi, S'rendarr, etc. in Elsweyr. Amulets would also be a nice touch. Maybe a praying emote as well.

By arrow. By blade.
By tooth. By claw.
By shock. By frost. By flame.
The Aldmeri Dominion will dominate Tamriel.
Our enemies will fall until the Throne is ours.

I like the idea of amulets or maybe even rings. Role players will definitely take advantage of this, also some might start a guild where the members worship a specific god. This would add a nice touch to TESO

nah, just because Xen is a figure in the Altmer pantheon, it´s not revered and there are no chapels of him. Xen is pretty much Tsun, a baddy to the Altmer like Lorkhan. Xen taught men how to take (elven) captives in war...

I stumbled upon that fact, too, browsing pantheons at UESP. They do not distinct betwen "Gods" and "Demons", therefor Lorkhan and Xen are part of the elven pantheon, but not Sithis, who is generally the personified death to all religions.

EDIT:

Except, Xen is not Tsun, but Zenithar...

Atheism? Can it be a thing because you know the gods are real?

This is a lot like the options you have during GW2's creator, or even NWN. It doesn't affect much, but it's a nice little choice to affiliate your character with a deity of preference/interest. I doubt ZoS will implement it, but it'd be neat.

There can't really be atheism in TES. The gods are clearly there. Some people choose not to worship them, but I don't think any go as far as to say they don't exist.

Not really an option in a world where the deities are axiomatically real. It would be fine not to worship them, but denying their existence altogether would be a little foolish.

Would be silly in The elder scrolls universe given the frequent interactions by them. Also magic.

I love the idea of this thread, If I can assign religious beliefs to my characters the depth of role play sinks a whole new level.
Also opens the ability to provide quest chains depending on who you worship and the potential to have new spells/abilities even equipment unique to worshipers of the God/Daedra/Badass you chose.

"Greetings Amal,

We truly appreciate how smart and creative our fans are, and love your feedback and suggestions! We have not confirmed whether players can actively worship certain Gods in the game. We certainly do offer quests for specific Gods in the game and you can most certainly create your own weapons and create the mythology behind that weapon or object. If you have further questions, feel free to respond to this e-mail.

Thank you for your continued interest and support! :-)

Warm Regards,
The Elder Scrolls Online Team"

I received this email from the support team, I'm glad about being able to do whatever we want with our weapons, now I hope they let us worship gods

They might take it on board! The fact that they said it isn't announced my be because they obviously take into account people's questions and my add a bar where you can select which god you worship giving you a buff. Would be cool.

They seem to be implying that there will be Aedric quests. Hopefully they won't all be for Imperial gods.

Just emailed this to the support team

"Dear ESO team,

Just a small question about Deadric quests. In previous TES games we have become deadric princes champions and received artifacts for this. But in a single world populated by the entire ESO community how will doing deadric quests be unique as well as the artifact and titles we get. In my opinion if everyone had a copy of Azuras Star or Volendrung, it would ruin the game a bit for me. Will there be variety for everyone when doing a deadric quest as well as different types of Deadric artifacts?

Your Sincerely,

-Cairan MacLennan
One land! One Emperor! For the Covenant!"

I'll post my reply, but what do you guys think?
